Narodowy Instytut Onkologii

Największa w Polsce placówka onkologiczna łącząca pracę badawczą i kliniczną

The Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology (MSCNRIO) is the largest oncology centre in Poland and one of the leading centres in Central Europe, with its headquarters in Warsaw and branches in Krakow and Gliwice. Warsaw alone hosts around half a million consultations per year. The Institute provides modern diagnostics, treatment and comprehensive care, including nutritional, psychological and rehabilitation support. Building on nearly a century of experience, MSCNRIO conducts intensive scientific work and runs over 500 clinical trials, including those carried out by the Early Phase Trials Unit, the Clinical Trials Support Centre and the Precision Oncology Centre. At the same time, it plays a vital role in shaping Poland's oncology care system — coordinating the implementation of the National Oncology Strategy, participating in the rollout of the National Oncology Network, managing the National Cancer Registry and developing diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines. As a member of the European EURACAN network, the Institute also serves as a reference centre for the treatment of rare cancers. For many years it has cooperated with international organisations such as OECI, ESMO, EORTC, ESTRO, ASCO and IARC, actively contributing to global oncology standards. In parallel, MSCNRIO's multidisciplinary expert teams are engaged in primary and secondary prevention, including through the Centre for Cancer Prevention, the Department of Cancer Epidemiology and Primary Prevention, and the Laboratory of Primary Prevention and Health Policy.

Czym jest Narodowa Strategia Onkologiczna?

Narodowa Strategia Onkologiczna

The National Oncology Strategy (NOS) is the flagship programme for the development of Polish oncology for 2020–2030. Its aim is to improve the effectiveness of cancer prevention, diagnostics and treatment through modern, systemic solutions. The NOS covers five strategic areas, including investment in the medical workforce, innovation and care organisation.

The National Research Institute of Oncology coordinates the implementation of the strategy as the National Monitoring Centre. Below we present the key elements of the NOS, including information on the National Oncology Network, clinical guidelines and progress reports.
